Market view

The UK market asks harder questions about accessibility and process.

British buyers, and especially anyone procuring on behalf of an organisation, tend to ask about things beyond design: is the site accessible, how is consent handled, what happens to the data, who owns the code, what is the support arrangement. Those questions are reasonable and they are easier to answer if the site was built with them in mind. We target WCAG 2.2 AA as a matter of course, which improves the site for everyone and removes a category of risk.

Consent under UK GDPR and PECR works much as it does in the EU: non-essential cookies and tracking require permission, and refusal has to be straightforward. We wire analytics and advertising so nothing fires before a choice is made, and document the script inventory so you can answer a question about it without going back to a developer.

Commercially the requirements are familiar: GBP pricing with VAT handled correctly for consumer and business sales, Stripe or a UK acquirer for cards and Apple Pay, Klarna where the category expects instalments, and direct debit for subscriptions. Content and copy tend to be more understated here than in other markets, and we write accordingly.

Accessible by default
WCAG 2.2 AA targeted in design and build, then tested rather than claimed.

Local detail

UK specifics we plan for.

Accessibility is a real requirement
Public sector work requires it and private sector buyers increasingly ask. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and test rather than assert compliance.
PECR consent rules
Non-essential cookies need consent before they load. We implement that properly and keep an inventory of every script so the answer is documented.
VAT thresholds and B2B
Consumer prices shown inclusive, business prices often exclusive, and correct treatment for cross-border sales. We configure all three where relevant.
Klarna and instalments
In several retail categories instalment options measurably lift conversion. We integrate them including the product-page messaging that makes them work.
Procurement questions
Ownership of code and accounts, data location, support response times and continuity. We answer these in writing as part of the proposal.
Two-hour overlap advantage
Beirut is two hours ahead of London, so we are already working when your day starts and can turn feedback around before your afternoon.
What it costs

What changes the price.

Accessibility depth
AA target or audited
Building to AA is standard for us. A formal audit with a written report and remediation cycle is additional work, quoted separately.
Scope
Unique templates
We count designed templates rather than pages, so a large site on a few templates costs less than a small one with bespoke layouts throughout.
Commerce
Payments and integrations
Payment routes, subscriptions, ERP and CRM connections each add build and testing time.
Questions

Websites for the UK: common questions

Do you work with UK companies remotely?

Yes, regularly. Beirut is two hours ahead of London, so we overlap for the whole of your working day and often have feedback actioned before your afternoon. Quotes are fixed and itemised in pounds or dollars.

Will the site be accessible?

We build to WCAG 2.2 AA: keyboard navigation, focus visibility, contrast, semantic structure and screen-reader labelling, then test it. If you need a formal audit and statement, we can arrange that as a separate piece.

How do you handle cookie consent?

Non-essential scripts do not load until the visitor consents, refusal is as easy as acceptance, and we document what each script does so you can answer questions without a developer.

Can you handle VAT properly?

Yes, including inclusive consumer pricing, exclusive business pricing and cross-border treatment. Where you use accounting software, we integrate with its invoicing rather than duplicating it.

Who owns the site and the accounts?

You do. Domain, hosting, analytics and code are all in your company’s name, documented, and handed over at launch. There is no dependency on keeping us on contract.

Do you build on WordPress or something custom?

Both, depending on the job. WordPress when content management is central, a custom front end when performance or a specific application requirement drives it. We explain the trade-off rather than defaulting.
