Market view

Where data costs money, page weight is a business decision.

Most visitors reach your site on a phone, over a mobile package where every megabyte has a price. A heavy homepage does not just load slowly, it costs the visitor money, and they leave. That single fact drives most of our technical choices here: aggressive page weight budgets, compressed imagery, no video backgrounds, minimal scripts, and a layout that gives the visitor what they came for in the first screen.

Payment behaviour follows the same logic. Card penetration is limited, while mobile money through the major operators is widely used and trusted. For most businesses the practical setup is mobile money as the primary route, bank transfer for larger or corporate transactions, and cash where the category still requires it. We build the flow around what people actually have, rather than a card checkout most visitors cannot use.

Hosting sits outside the country on stable infrastructure with CDN delivery, so pages are served from a nearby edge rather than a distant origin. The site, email and backups all stay reachable regardless of local power or connectivity. Content is in French by default, with English added where the audience or investor base expects it.

Local detail

Congo specifics we plan for.

Both Congos
We work with businesses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo. Payment providers and operators differ between them, so we confirm which market you are in before scoping.
Mobile money is the rail
Operator wallets are the practical way to collect payment from consumers. We integrate what is available to your entity and design the confirmation flow around it.
Data cost shapes design
Visitors pay per megabyte. We treat page weight as a hard constraint, which usually produces a faster site than competitors who did not.
Power and connectivity
Nothing critical runs on local infrastructure. Site, email and backups all sit abroad so the business stays reachable.
French as the working language
Content, interface and email templates in French, with English available where an international audience matters.
Diaspora and international buyers
Where you sell to customers abroad, we can add a version with international payment processing on an entity that supports it.

Which rails are available
Mobile money integrations vary by operator and by country. Availability for your entity decides how much integration work is involved.
Scope
Templates and languages
Unique page designs, and whether you need French only or French and English.
Commerce
Catalogue or enquiry
An enquiry-led site is simpler than a full store with payment collection, stock and delivery rules.
Questions

Websites for Congo: common questions

Do you work in the DRC or the Republic of Congo?

Both. The markets differ in operators, payment providers and regulation, so we confirm which one you are operating in at the start and scope accordingly.

Can I take mobile money payments on my site?

In most cases yes, depending on your entity and which operators you can contract with. We establish what is available before designing the checkout, rather than assuming a card flow that most visitors cannot use.

Where should the site be hosted?

Outside the country, on cloud infrastructure with CDN delivery so pages are served from a nearby edge. That keeps the site fast locally and reachable regardless of local power or network conditions.

Will the site work on a slow, expensive connection?

That is the main design constraint. We hold a strict page weight budget and test on throttled connections, so the site loads quickly and does not burn the visitor’s data allowance.

Do you build in French?

Yes. French is the default working language for these projects, including interface, content and email templates, with English added where your audience or investors expect it.

Can you work with us remotely?

Yes. We are one to two hours ahead of Kinshasa, so the working day overlaps. Projects run over calls and shared documents with a fixed, itemised quote before starting.
